Northwood Gymnastics follows the British Gymnastics Awards Programme. As part of this programme, gymnasts are given the opportunity to complete a series of skills to pass the badges within this scheme.

New gymnasts can start at badge 8 and work through the badges from badge 8 to 1, then onto  bronze, silver and gold.

All gymnasts' will be assessed during the last few weeks of term in March and December at the session they attend.

If the gymnast passes their badge they will be given the opportunity to purchase the badge and certificate for £4.00

If the gymnast is unable to attend their current session on badge week, we are sorry we cannot test them on another day or another week. They will be able to next be tested on their next badge at the next holiday club.

We also run badge testing during the holiday club at Northwood School

When is Badge testing?

Badge Testing takes place at the Gym, during lessons, in Autumn and Spring terms.

During this time, gymnasts will be working towards the British Gymnastics Proficiency Core Gymnastics Award scheme which assists in the progressive development of core skills such as balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination and incorporates compulsory pulse raising activities. The actual dates of testing change each year, so an email will be sent with testing dates.

There are 10 types of activity and 8 levels of attainment.

Continuing on from that we have the ‘Advanced Proficiency Gymnastics Award Scheme’ which assists in the development of core fitness (strength, power, flexibility, co-ordination) and gymnastics skills. The scheme offers a range of activities including Fitness, Floor, Vault & Rebound, Apparatus, and Pairs & Groups.

Your child will be assessed within their normal class time at the end of each of the terms (except for the summer term) Badges and Certificates can then be purchased at an additional cost if your child has successfully passed.
